I certainly enjoy this thread but cannot add much regarding the Maxims. I used to own an 08/15 but that was 40 years ago and it was traded away for a Thompson SMG.
Most of my guns are U.S. Military from the WWII period but there is one early one in the collection that might be appropriate for this discussion. This a Colt M1895 Potato Digger in .30-40 Krag that was sold in 1904 in Telluride, Colorado. It was purchased by a gold mine during the strikes and labor unrest that swept Colorado in 1903-1904.
These were used to protect the mines and mills from militant strikers of the Western Federation of Miners. A very interesting period of labor relations and an unusual machine gun with no military connection, just commercial use.
Dronic69 huge thanks for posting. Nice museum display but someone should tell them that the wooden butt stock of their German MG08/15 has been put on upside down!!

Here are some images of my battle damaged sled. There are a number of areas that have been damaged by either small arms fire or shell fragments. Still a reasonable amount of original paint left too.

Nice view of the MG08/15. Period images show more often its use with the 250 rd ammo belt. So any imagery of the 100 rd belt and trommel most welcome please.

ps the MG08 and MG08/15 threads are now combined in case anyone was wondering where they had gone.:tinysmile_shy_t:
I have investigated and see that Photobucket now charge for 3rd party uploading. SPOTTER huge thanks for reversing many of the images so that they can still be seen. I will use the BOCN system from now on and retrieve those missing images. Looking forward to other members contributing to this thread, AND, I encourage all to become Premium Members!! Mark
Thanks SPOTTER. SPOTTER has kindly removed the 'offending' PHOTOBUCKET imagery on this thread. I will now re-build with Ground Maxim material. Thanks again.
