I recently acquired this fuze but only had a bad picture to go on (and sorry for the quality of these pics). When received it is larger and heavier than I thought. The thread size is the same as the German heavy minenwerfer fuzes and does fit those projectiles but I have no information about such a fuze being used on them and it won't fit any other German projectile I know of. So I thought possibly bomb related. There are faint marks where it might have hit the ground but they are almost perpendicular to the axis of the fuze, not what you might expect from the spin of an artillery round.
It is all steel construction with two key slots in the upper part, the only markings being a faint 3 and heavier 5, but not close enough together to be a date. It has a screw thread on the base to accept a gain and it could possibly be Mazak residue around those threads.
Anyone have any ideas or paperwork that could indicate use age and country? Thanks in advance.
