Unknown object

Can anyone ID the object in the pictures below? It was grouped with a number of WW2 British fuzes. Measures 5cm x 2.5cm and is extremely well made.

Markings on the main piece are

PC830 A/1
PRO PAT
No 12591/38

and on the attached plate

PC842/1

We found one on the wreckage of a crashed Lancaster. The crash caused it to split in two. It was found near the Packard Build Merlin 38 engine and propeller. When you look at the back-view you can see how the internals looked. Exactly as in the patent drawing. Was not just a prototype but a fitted part in a 1944 build Lancaster III
