Joe I have a document that says it is to see the diffirence between the T Mi Z 42 en T Mi Z 43

doesn't make any sense to me as the differences are clear in the hight of the "schlachtbolze" , sorry can't find the english translation :-(

I agree with seppe that the differences are clear in the height of the firing pin. The 42 being taller than the 43. However, the 43 was fitted with a "Ausbausperre" - an anti-disturbance mechanism. Perhaps the red band is a gentle reminder that this one, once installed, cannot be removed?

In fact, if you translate the wonderful works of "EK", that is pretty much it. To differentiate mines fitted with the 42 vs the 43.
