Show us your Wooden Drill Rounds

In the Spring I found the 2 pr drill rounds and 22Cal 2pr subcal at an Antique show. At the Fall show yesterday I found the
6Pr drill. So I guess next Spring the next size up will appear ~
6pr 1942 RM/C
2pr 1938 RL B
2pr 1941 RM/C
2pr subcal unmarked

(At least I avoided buying an 18pr made into a lamp)

Due to a supportive other half, I have these up the wall of my staircase.

From left to right.
1942 2PR, 1943 6PR, 1942 2PR, 1944 75mm, 1942 17pdr.
The observant will notice the 3PR tank, 77mm tank rounds and 3inch, 95mm CS wooden rounds are missing, so please yell if you wish to trade/sell

25 pounder - different style

Saw this 25 pounder Drill at a Navy Festival over the weekend. It was part of the 25 pounder gun display.

Looks different to the others I have seen.

The head Stamp is : S & L 69 U (U being the mark of the South African Military) Not sure who the manufacturer S & L would be.

77 mm German FK96 "Exercierung" Drill

New addition. A 77 mm German FK96 "Exercierung" / Drill.

The wooden section is painted a greyish green colour. The paint appears to be original.

The photo of the cannon was taken at the Military Museum in Johannesburg, S A.

What's the length and diameter of the leather drill charge bag next to your 6 inch drill round?

Here is a 6 inch Drill Projectile that has come my way.

On the side is Stamped RCD 1940 (Royal Carriage Department) Woolwich.

Projectile length 645 mm~~~~~~~

I just acquired this unusual item. I was told that it came from the Estate of a WW2 VET and ord collector and that it was a 1942 era drill round? The only markings I can find are at the top , "CLC-160" and the number "4." It is very well built and constructed. It measures, 6 & 11/16ths inches wide at the base, 5 & 5/16ths inches in diameter and 9 & 5/16ths long.

25 x 218 Soviet Navy Drill

25 mm x 218 Soviet Navy Drill. Not strictly wood, but rather a type of laminated cloth.

My latest addition.

Overall length 293 mm

12, 7 x 99 for comparison.

Hi Andy,
these usually have a brass collar on the shoulder, not seen one without this before.
any signs of filled screw holes?

6 pounder drill with out collar

From what I understand this variation is less common. Also see the height of the base. It is nearly double that of the one with the brass collar. I have seen another photo of a similar one to mine posted by another member. Will try to find and post it.

No screw holes.

Well spotted.
