Spoken from a point of safety and luxury. You have to keep in context just how bad things were, and remember that entire companies of soldiers were sacrificed for what today might appear as minor military goals. Sorry, but I disagree EOD...... post #15 from Ivashkin clearly shows pics the actuating mechanism fuze and charge of the Dog mine.

The mine uses a standard MUV pull fuze and detonator. The wood lever pulls out the safety pin from MUV fuze when the lever is pushed downward. A charge on the back of the dog sits on a wood plate or platform. On the side of the dog are 6kg's of smaller 400 gram charges in the two bags, there are approx thirty smaller 400 gram charges, that are set off by det cord and detonator caps connected to the smaller charge on the dogs back.
