This from the man that finds all of the neat museums and provides pictures for us to drool over:wink:
Found some good stuff and touched base with wichitaslumlord and Ordnance.
Best was the 81mm Japanese Mortar with full up Type 93 fuze. Also the sectioned 40mm fuzes, the T30E8 (pre M56 PD Fuze) 37mm fuze and a couple of IDFK fuzes. Oh, and the MKI with fuze and original paint. And the 37mm subcal adapters. And the two German 37mm HE....

Taber, for $30.00 you can become a member and show up on Thursdays. They offer the memberships at the door. I saw another IAA member there and we were trying to beat each other to the Ordnance :wink:
Rick, I was glad for the 37mm/1pdrs since I don't have many:tinysmile_hmm_t:. The US Naval 1pdr I got was dated 1910 and the casing 1916. Better yet, I have a 1904 fuze to go in it.

Despite having told myself that I wasn't going again today, myself said shut up and drive. Found some items I either overlooked or used as an excuse to go back down. The four prong grenade launcher adapters were at a good price, as well as the MKI 37mm fuzes. I have no idea what the tin they came in was for, but it's British. Good show, but I'm beat!!!
Hey Mike, good to meet you also. Since my collection is focused on 37mm/1Pdrs, I see things like that and totally missed the 28cm casing that Rick pointed out to me:tinysmile_twink_t:.
Nothing special about the 75mm casings other than them being US WWI vintage, but the prices were right. It amazes me the number of WWI 75mm casings I find, but rarely find the WWII M18 casings.

My eyes got REALLY big when I spotted the 28cm case under his table...and then got bigger when he said how much he wanted for it! I did manage to get some cool pieces from him (I forget his name) but he was very fair.
And I agree, I come across more of the WWI/interwar US 75mm FG cases than M18 cases.

I arrived home 2 hours ago, road weary and beat, but there was still enough energy to load the shows finds on the table for pictures. As a table holder, I must stay until 3:00pm on Saturday. It was great to meet taber10 for the first time (super guy!) and visit with bacarnal and ordnance.
Pictured below is the haul from the show. I was incredibly fortunate to find a number of fantastic items. The 50mm Japanese mortar round is the variant with the 2 piece upper body which is not commonly found. The Japanese bomb is identical to the 1kg practice but has a metal head as opposed to the rubber dome. I have been on the hunt for a PIAT round for 20+ years as they are almost non existent in the US so this one was a great find.
The 25lb practice bomb has a great story behind it. It was on a F-100 (more likely a F-86) which was being flown by a General in the early 1950's. He forgot to lower his landing gear and bellied the plane in on the runway with the practice bombs being ground down on the front and having asphalt from the runway stick to them once the plane came to rest. The 6 inch Newton trench mortar is another near impossible one to find in the States. Ordnance thought that it might be a U.S. made version. Any help with identification would be great! Far left is a under water shaped charge cable cutter used by salvage crews and, on occasion, special forces. There is a BLU 26 sub munition which has never been crimped together. Also pictured is a French F-1 with the 1915 percussion fuze (tall variation) and a U.S. high security ordnance and gun rack padlock. I also had to pickup a 37mm French round with crisp ink stamping on the base and a scattering of patches. Lastly is a 60mm U.S. mortar round with the bakelite plastic fuze dated 1943 and a French offensive grenade.

Thanks for the clarification. I hadn't taken time to look up the colors and "assumed" it was HE. It has a shaped cone and what appeared to be residue in the head so it seemed reasonable at first glance. Thanks, Pat

Well, as usual I'm late to the thread as everything has to be shipped home before flying back. The last box just arrived yesterday so here my small pile of acquisitions from the SOS. I always seem to load the photos in reverse order so the group photo is last. Oops.
My favorite two pieces are the 1953 dated M26 frag grenade and the 1st pattern German M24 stick grenade with the small belt hook, both very hard pieces to find. The large submunition is a chem/bio type needing further identification. Perhaps US-subs will weigh in on this one.
Also added 3 nice Viet Cong/NVA grenades, a 40mm canopy smoke round, an M406 HE round, less fuze and ogive, an 81mm M375 WP smoke round, an XM16 CS submunition, 4-rd clip for the M202A1 flame launcher, and a couple relic grenade fuzes and M83 bomb wing set (thanks Bruce!).
The leather funnel is for filling the water jacket of the M1917 Browning machine gun, an accessory I've sought for 40+ years, and the part at the lower left is a scarce bayonet lug for the WWI Remington Model 10 trench shotgun. Quite a diverse assortment but I have eclectic tastes.
It was a great show and enjoyed seeing Pat, Bruce, Justin, Taber, and a half dozen other fellow ordnance collectors there. Already looking forward to next year.
