Martini Henry?

I am a metal detectorist currently living in South Cumbria. This find, center and right picture, is a bullet I found on a site used by Lancs. Fusiliers in 1800’s. I am assuming it is a round from a Martini Henry as it resembles the left picture. The pheon mark I know but to what does the 9 or 6 refer to? Thanks. IMG_4825.jpegAndyK
 
I don't know how the this particular bullet was made. However, I would think that the number identifies the mould or forming die.

Andy,
Martini Henry bullets were created in a bullet press, without the use of heat. As Tim says, the number 9 represents the machine (at the Royal Laboratory) in which the bullet was formed.
 
Hi Justin. Thanks for the information , very interesting and great to finally have an accurate description of something I found 20+ years ago. I shall have a look for some more “unidentifieds” and post shortly.
