Question on the M.75/85 Austrian Hungarian fuze.
I have seen the M.75/85 fuze as used with the 9cm and the M.75/85c as used with the 8cm.

What are the differences between the fuzes other than the size of projectile they are used on? Anything of note?

Joe

Hi Joe
The fuse was used for 9cm, 8cm and 7cm ammunition (M.75 system)
For 9;8cm everything is identical including the force of the ,,deformation elements,, inside fuse.
As for 7cm I will look later.

Example of marking (Double -shock and time):
-Perkussions-Ring Zünder (Later renamed to: Schrapnellzünder ) M.75/85
Example of marking (schock) :
-Perkusion-Zünder (Later renamed :Granatzünder M.75/80

Gents,
What does the "c" stand for in M.75/85c ?
Thanks
Drew
In the military documentation on the production of the fuse and its acceptance from 1880 to 1896, including additions, there is no mention of the band "c" after the fuse designation, i.e. the designation M.75/85c.

The only place where "c" appears is in a single American document which is inaccurate in details ...Notes on Austro-Hungarian fuzes ...
secondary products based on it. I leave it up to you to decide how accurate or inaccurate each piece of information is :)

The website is only based on this source. So if I don't find a real quote from the military sources of Austria-Hungary, I believe that this designation is improvised.
There is no mention of "c" in any other sources outside of the American one either.

If anyone has a photo of a fuse with the word "c" written on it, I'd be happy to take a look.
This also applies to military documents of the Austro-Hungarian Army.

I'm assuming the following English Edition is the same "Notes on Austro-Hungarian Fuses" as to your reference American document?

If so, yes very frustrating as it does list the M.75/85c, but there is no explanation - only for the "a" & "b" :

Thank you for the clarification - at least I'm not going insane just yet!
