To add my two pence worth, I think that both bazooka chris and Fuzeman are correct!
While I don’t believe it’s a legal requirement to have the deact certificate I'm sure that it would be a difficult proposition to sell one without it. (I was led to believe that you needed the certificate to sell a deact, but I have no idea if that’s true or not).
As with most things firearms related it will depend on which Police force you contact to what advice your given.
The best thing to do would be send them to the proof house and get new certificates, that ways there’s no question over the law.
