Israeli practice rifle grenade

Slick

Well-Known Member
Acquired a kit of these some years back. The only designation I have found is the reference to their replicating the BT/AT-44 manufactured by IMI. Maybe the script on the tube can be deciphered, but I'm not up on my Hebrew. Any help with an official ID and maybe a TM or FM reference would be appreciated.

Rick:

I have two here as well. They are the practice version of the "IMI, BT/AT 52 HEAT, Rifle Grenade.

The facts are on the "Live" version that also relates to the "Practice version". They are listed below

Facts:
1) Use was for both light armour and anti-personel.
2) It can penetrate 150mm of steel armor plate.
3) It has a Shaped charge filed with Composition B.
4) It has the ability for it to be launched via either using a Bullet or
blank cartridges (though it is better to use the bullet trap for way to many reasons).
5) It can be used by any rifle that has a flashhider of 22mm inside diameter
6) It has a base operating fuze with an angle of 15 degrees minimum for the fuze to detonate
7) Weight is 510 g.
8) Length is 400mm.
8) Diameter is 50mm.
10) Range for this grenade is anywhere from 270-320m, range may differ according to what rifle you are using.

Now some of that Hebrew translates into BT/AT HEAT Rifle grenade.

It helped alot! I'm calling it the No.14 Mk 1. Can't find anything else online or in books about it. Only found (SOLD OUT)ads that used to sell the kits. Not sure what I'm gonna do with all the spare fins, tubes and clip-on M16 and Galil sights.

Very nice assortment. What are the chances of shipping items like that, from Israel?

I went and dug out the original crate that contained 6 practice rifle grenades and attendant parts and tools. Had not opened it in years, so it was a little like getting it for the first time, again. I have given away and traded off all but one, still in the cardboard shipping tube. Only one was ever "launched", with a plain old blank, and, well, it wasn't very spectacular. Maybe a 15 yard(meter) flight. Bah!
In a pocket on the lid is an inventory sheet and instructions for use. On an odd note, the paper measures 8" X 11". Being used to the standard 8" X 11", it was very obvious, especially when put in the scanner. Maybe jonnyc can jump in there with some translating. The pages are full size for ease of embiggenment.
Anyway, here are a bunch of pics of it all.
