Headstamp question 20x82 MG151/20

Hi there,

I have this lacquered steel 20x82 shell case but the headstamp doesn't exactly follow the standard German ww2 pattern.
In fact it only says '544'
The five indents retaining the primer are a bit odd as well.
I've had a bit of a search on Google and BOCN yet, but without any results.
So, could anyone please help me out?

Could be non-German, I have owned/seen Swiss, French post war and Italian. Pretty sure somebody known more, I do not have my collection anymore.

another posibility might be South African. Denel copied the 151/20.

The 5 stab crimps holding the primer are quite common. Ordinarily I would have said that it was a mis-stamped German case as the lot numbers are very similar in font style to that used by the Germans. What is throwing me is the apparent double case-mouth crimp. I have not seen that before, not in literature nor in the 60 odd 151/20 rounds that I have in my possession. Mystery.

No it's a brass case

As far as headstamps go, 544 is a Soviet code for State Factory #544, Glazov. But did they make these cartridges?
