British makers mark?

Can anyone identify this makers mark, found on a PIAT tail. It obviously looks like the Mercedes logo but presumably they didn't make British ammunition during the war years.

I have this mark listed as: J.Lucas Ltd, King St, Birmingham when it was on a 2" mortar fin.
The ID came from someone on a forum.

Snufkin identified some of my fins as lucas made with that mark. Cheers Tony
