You could possibly turn up some wood dowels on the lathe and paint them with copper coloured paint for dummy projectiles. Just an idea.

Hi Falcon, yes i had that in mind and it would keep the weight down as a 150 round belt would be a bit on the heavy side.
Cheers

Nice find .
The feed belts i've seen, including from B-24s in Australia have been made of a nickel or stainless type metal.Have seen some from burnt crash sites that have only had tarnishing ,no rust or corrosion.
As Rick said CLR should work ,or a mild hydrochloric acid (ie,spirit of salts) , if its not the same thing. just don't breathe the fumes!

cheers
Bob

Hi Bob, yes its been laying in water for many years but still flexible, i am looking for a container big enough to put it in at the moment so can treat it.

Nice chute there. I remember a Belgium guy who had loads of .50 rounds for sale, in found condition, and live. they were around 2 euro a piece, and this is how the look after some clt, all original paint on the tips too.

Do you own a metal detector ? If you do I can point you in the direction of an old WW2 air gunnery range that is packed full of .50cal heads. Give me a PM if you're interested.

Cheers

Hi, Just wondering if anybody can help as I am making up a 50cal belt is there any particular combination of Ap- ball -tracer and incendiary used

Andy

The belts i have are in there original configurtion (only new cloth) and were uese in aircraft, and are: 1 AP, 2 tracer, 2 incendiary. Maybe other configurations are used.
