Yes. Very nice. A feed chute like that would bring $200+ over here. AND it looks to be in excellent condition. Another bonus.

Rick

Very nice find indeed Andy, thanks for sharing.
Your post inspired me to take a couple of snaps of an item I have had in the collection for a number of years now, part of a .50 cal MG mount - it is in relic condition. When I purchased this, I was told it had come from a crashed B17, though I think these were used on other American aircraft too.

kind regards Kev

Hi Tony, thanks that would be helpful as you wouldn't see them inside the feed chute.
Cheers

Ok mate,
I'll pop them in your parcel tomorrow, got 33 here at the moment do you know how many you need to fill the chute?(was going to say 'to fill your chute' but didn't sound to PC!)

Cheers
Tony

Thanks Tony, i see what you mean lol, i think i would be looking a 100+ to fill it but the rounds are going to be the hardest to get i think.
Cheers
Andy

I have three fired cases(modern also) you are welcome to,it's a start! can you get projectiles for them?

Cheers
Tony

Thanks again Mate, i do have the odd one or two recovered projectiles they will do as a filla for inside as they will not be noticed.
All the best
Andy

Thanks Weasel, like you say not a cheap task to fill but its something you can do bit by bit but how to display it as it would have been fix to the gun and them to a wood box i think will have to see if i can find some pics.
Cheers

Hi Andy, I saw some of the same stuff in a US plane at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford site. If you've not been there already it would be worth a look. I went there for my 40th birthday and there were no restrictions on taking photos there (2002).

Hi Ammotechxt, i have not been there for some years but thats deffently on the list of places to visit, having something like this has sparked up an interest again and i have plenty of air museums about here so will be having a look around. i take it its made out of stainless steal thats what it looks like have you any idea.
Cheers

My $200 assessed "value" was a bit shy, by about half. A 40" section is for sale on a BMG site for $399.95. SHEESH!! You better buy your pal a keg.

On the display note, I was fortunate to get a behind-the-scenes tour of the 8th AF Museum at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana. One of the works in progress was a B-24 nose section, forward of the wing. They were in the process of de-skinning it and installing plexiglas/lexan panels for viewing. Way cool. Their feed chutes were loaded with painted wooden dowels replicating the Cal. 50s, with a couple of "real" dummies at each end. You couldn't tell the difference until it was pointed out. Just a thought.

As for material, my guess is, mostly alum. alloy. We have stuff over here called CLR. Good for removing lime from toilets and stuff. Might work on your bits.

Rick

Almost forgot. The IWM. THE best. Except for maybe Bovington. But the EXPLOSION museum is tops, as well. You chaps win when it comes to mil. museums. Bar none.

Thank you Rick, the section i have is 75 inches long so could be worth a bit then, i will get some lime scale remover to get rid of that and thanks, my nearest museum is framlingham airfield in suffolk it was the home to the -95thBG-390th BG so will have to give it a visit, you have some good museums in the states too the last one i went to was in dayton ohio back in the 80s and had a great time, and a good idea regarding the dummys i had not thought of that and me with a lathe too.
Best regards
Andy

Hi Andy,

I have nearly 50 cases all in links - You can have for 35 if any good, I was going to break them up into x10's and sell them. WF (send me a PM if interested).
