3 favorite pieces

Hello, I decided to start a thread where members could show their 3 favorite pieces. If this takes off great, if not okay too. Anyway here are my 3 for now. 1) Dopp Z91 fuze 2) m1917 German egg grenade with m1916 percussion igniter 3) m1913 German baby defensive discus grenade. What are your 3 favorite pieces? Dano

by me

Wow, Appearantly a few posts passed by me whilst I was sleeping, to all some really really nice stuff. I like mostly all WW1 items, but obviously must be partial to grenades and artillery fuzes, especially German. Thanks gentlemen and I hope we get a few more responces here...Dano

That Szakats is superb mate.
I remember sat round the campfire at Beltring with a few dealers listening to the whole story of the rounds told by Steve McGregor and i was fascinated.
Ive held the case that Mick owns,im sure ive pictured it in the cartridge forum a while ago?

My top 3 would be the 50B 'Y' booby trap fuze for the ariel bombs, the Hungarian made 38M bomb fuze and the Magnetic mine influence fuze.
They stay with me 'til the bitter end if i had to sell up!

Smokin' Shinkle

There has been some really nice stuff posted on this thread, but Paul I think your Shinkle certainly takes the cake. I've never seen or held a Shinkle, only seen pictures. What a fine looking piece. To me eye appeal as well as rarity etc....all add up, and that Shinkle is just TITS...Dano

Here are my three favorite grenades, first is the Turkish #2 infantry grenade, it came to me through an antique seller in California who thought it was part of an oil lamp, I am still working on getting reproduction fuses made.
Next is the Russian M1912 lantern grenade, formerly of Dano's collection, showing one of the frag plates, a bit of trivia, the sections of the frag plat is 1/4 vershok, the vershok being an archaic Russian measure about 44.5mm.
Last is the stink common French M1847 grenade, this one has a friction fuse body, but the reason I like this grenade is because when I am showing a crowd of people the grenades, I always ask if any of the older people ever watched Rocky and Bulwinkle, (you boys on the other side of the pond will probably not understand), and when they say yes, I show them the French Ball, and remind them that Boris and Natasha threw this type of grenade at Rocky and Bulwinkle in nearly every episode, and the light goes on in their head.
Yuma018.jpg

I had the opertunity to acquire a Shinkle grenade at the last SOS, but passed as it was incomeplete, the price was $600, and I do not collect grenades, I collect WWI weapons,
Best wishes
Gus

Very nice Paul.

Cheers Dave. :)
As far as im aware, the green colour represents a 'specialist fuze' i.e,the 50B 'Y' one a booby trap, the number 26 being used in oil-bombs(which had 2 detonation systems).
Im sure the other boys can confirm this?

Red =for airburst
Yellow =Special (Usually Not for low level ) or Short delay
Green = Special Handling the (50) and the Y fuze fall into this cat

Well guys, mine are here with one exception. The first two are my Bible and my XM177E2, then in the spring it will be the DM51. Anybody care to guess what the XM is?
