does anyone have any info on german red colored wood bullets i believe for grenade launching. was demilling two sets on set was natural wood and they had regular flake powder, the red colored had small grain powder like what is used in 223, then pack with wool on top of the powder and i mean packed then hollow wood bullet. seems to me that that combination would create high chamber pressure. or maybe i am thinking too much into it.
if anyone has reasons or ideas of why this was done i would love to know thanks robert

7.92 blanks

The German red wood bulleted blanks are Platzpatronen 33 and are training blanks. No German grenade launching blanks had a full length wood bullet.

The normal powder charge for the Pl.Patr.33 is as you describe it, small NC flake 1.5mm square (Nz. Pl. Patr. RP 1,5 x 1,5/0.75), covered by a wool wad that takes up about half the case. However, other powders were approved, both tubular and flake.

You do not give headstamps, but the plain wood bullet may well be a different type of blank, as the Pl. Patr.33 should have a red bullet, although the colour can vary to almost purple.

What you have sounds perfectly normal for training blanks.

To see if you have a Treiber , here are al the WW2 types.

One is missing from the GG P40 because it looks too much as a Platz 33.
I dont want to confuse you.:tinysmile_twink_t2:
