ww2 bofors cooked off round

Hi all
the picks say it all 40mm bofors l60 unfired proj so i think a cook off when a AA site has been hit or possible way of disposal?
i picked this up at beltring about three years ago and after a dip in acid came up nice.

Hi Andy,
I really like that, the way it has all peeled open looks good. Nice job on cleaning it up up what ever acid you used has worked a treat.

Hi thanks i used old car battery acid from dead batterys.
It works fantastic on brass and copper & will remove all the black stuff or other crud but wont eat into the metal. It also works on rusty steel well but will eat into the metal if left to long. I then just rince off with fresh water and a rub over with a hard brush. this one has had a coat of rust cure to stop it going brown.
I used to collect L60 rounds but this is all i have left should never have sold them had around 50 all different never mind.
