Can any one help with this german round i'm wondering if the projectile is original. I believe the truncated shape is correct, and the weight looks about right 123grain (7.97grams) however I was expecting to see an embosed 'S' for Spandau on the base of the projectile.

Truncated cone

It looks OK, but it is hard to tell whether it is original. Plenty of companies loaded truncated cone bullets of the normal weight and with a CN envelope.

I don't collect German 9mm but ask on the IAA forum and Lew Curtis should be able to tell you.

German Truncated Bullets

Thanks for the referral to the IAA Forum. This thread wandered into a discussion on when and why DWM developed truncated bullets for their 7.65mm and 9mm Luger ammunition (around 1904 for the 9mm) and why did they drop it (in 1916 for German 9mm military ammunition). the final thread is at

This url also references the two that led into it.

Cheers,

Lew
