I have a box of shell cases. The box is very heavy, wood with steel lining, made to hold 24 shells and has flat tripod shaped things ( primer protectors ? ) in the base. The shell cases measure exactltly 2 inches i d at the open end, are 9.75 inches long. a few pictures follow.

3pr blanks for saluting purposes on board Navy ships and, probably, shore bases as well. No doubt TimG, et al, can give chapter and verse on manufacturers etc.
