They appear to be release unit cartridges. used on aircraft to release stores such as bombs or flares held captive on wing mounted pylons.

As exat808 says, they are aircraft ejector release unit cartridges. I'm not 100% certain, but I think that the No.1 Mk. 4 was used on Lightnings to eject the Red Top/Firstreak missiles: the model number is of about that vintage. I'm also pretty sure that the CERU No.100 was used in the Ejector Release Unit No 100 which was carried the over-wing tanks on later Mark Lightning aircraft.

Very rare items !

I have not seen that particular type of C.E.R.U. (Brass 30 mm case type)before but have seen a lot of 30 mm ADEN cases that were taken from the Drawing stage before the primer hole was put in and these were very similar indeed to your 30mm Case type-they are also I believe very rare and a very nice find !

Hi All
wow thanks you came up trumps as they say.
My best was some sort of egector seat charge but never thought of external stores.
thanks again .

Hi Dogdog, The first one is an ERU cartridge, also used on Buccaneers. Not sure about the second one.
