I belive they have been used on 5 inch Zunis which are still in use (Navy AND USMC).

I havent been able to find any data of this fuze on the normal generic online information sites, that list the Zuni, warheads, fuzes?? I have found a few photos of the ""Holy Moses"",with a similar looking fuze?

Lou, Glad to see that someone off this board got the fuze, even at the "buy it now" price the seller was asking. He usually doesn't come off his prices, as is evidenced with the 57mm recoilless casings. I WAS going to get it and was waiting for the clock to run down a bit more. Silly me. Good snag. Regards, Bruce.

Im sorry man. I love getting this stuff but not at the expence of another collecter.

Boy I tell you though,I cant even remember how many times Ive hesitated or""formulated a plan of attack"" on a buy it now and lost it. Ive actually lost stuff on the click of the mouse. There one second gone the next.

So yeah, price was a little steep, but worth it in the end. And I knew it would be gone if I didnt hit the button. It was a risk, you never know whats inside or missing or "screwdriver" damaged but Ive wiped it down with an oily rag and it looks great. And like I said above, its all there. Im not 100% sure but this seems to be another one of the items that came out of a large estate auction held in NewYork last year. To those of you out there that bought any of those items, you know the clues.

And yeah,I agree. The recoiless case prices are:stupid: "" Disclaimer"" No offence or implications intended!! Just an opinion!!!

As my 18 year old daughter would say, "No Worries". My collection is so eclectic right now that piece would have sent it off in ANOTHER direction (concentrate on 37's and below...ooh a 120!!). Really great find with the tags and good to see both of the fuzes in this thread in such great shape.

MK 149 nose rocket fuze

" This fuze is used in 3.5" HE aircrfat rockets and 5.0" HE aircraft rockets.. Use on carrier-based planes is authorized. Rockets should be fuzed only in an authorized fuzing location, preferably on the flight deck and not in a confined space such as the hangar. Since this rockets and the fuze are a new type of ammunition, special effort should be made to ensure that all safety precautions are rigidly observed.
The fuze is a improved substitute of the fuze MK 148 in many respects "
