I was talking with a chap today that hadn't long returned from Betikama on Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands.
He was telling me about this WWII US Jeep that was found last year in the scrub near the Betikama SDA Mission. It had been covered with a heavy duty canvas and covered with dirt. Scrub and vines had also ensured that it had remained completely hidden. Apparently it was in pretty good nick. The story goes that the cash strapped corrupt government or some individuals within the government had it sold offshore to someone in the US.
My friend didn't get to see the jeep but did see the heavy duty canvas that had covered it all these years and marveled at it's condition.
Cheers,
Robert
