Unique North Korean small arms

Here is an interesting page I found on North Korean designed and made small arms.

http://weaponsman.com/?p=8193

As well as the standard copies of the classic Russian types, they actually have some interesting ones of their own.

One of these is the type 73 LMG. It is supposedly based on the PKM, but with a dual belt/magazine feed system. It is also fitted with a grenade launcher. Perhaps they copied the top-feed magazine from the Japanese T96 or T99 LMG, of which they probably have some examples left over from the period of Japanese rule.

More detailed info on the Type 73 here: http://sadefensejournal.com/wp/?p=1785

The page also shows a six barreled minigun type weapon, presumably in 7.62x54R calibre.

I liked that dude waiving his pistol with the finger on the trigger under the nose of the reporter...

The Type 73 in the pics looks well used,in one picture the butt is held together with electrical tape and in another pic the pistol grip is split down its length, still never mind,,,as long as it works,
EOD,yes if I had been the reporter I would have needed clean underwear with that excitable guy waving a pistol around with his finger firmly fixed on the trigger,

Another site shows a photo of the same gun held together with tape from another angle. Apparently this is owned by the South Korean military. This site said they could have acquired it from the body of a NK soldier washed to the south side of the DMZ after flooding. If the wood has been in water, that could explain why it is cracked.
