Have had this for a few months and recently took it out of the case. Am curious which fuzes were set and the function of the wrench. Marked : RANGE RING FOR 3IN. NAVY MV 1150 F.S.
Thats a 60MM mortar body for scale.

Just think Rick, there are some morons out there that would take that to the scrap yard and sell it for scrap brass prices. It is really beautiful. I'm thinking 3 inch 50 cal projectiles and the nose fuze for them. Randall might have it already researched. Frizzen might know also.

Since it is for a PTTF Fuze with a muzzle velocity of 1150 FPS, it could possibly be for a 3" Landing Gun round, and the date would possibly make the fuze the MK XI-3 or MK XI-4, basically a copy of the M1907M PTTF Fuze. Just a thought. Cheers, Bruce.

Thanks Bruce. It gives me a starting point.

John, Yea, it's a hefty piece. Might get $2 or $3 out of it for scrap.

Would love to display it with an applicable fuze. If anybody has a spare, let me know.

Rick

How many pounds? Brass was going for 1.95 a pound in Louisville last week:bigsmile:. I'll take it for double the cost per pound:xd:. PM on the way.
