Try sending THIS in the mail!

I bet he doesn't get enough money from it to pay his legal bills if someone spots it in the mail system! Some people really go out of their way to test the system and the results. Wouldn't want to be the buyer either. Fallout on this could go in both directions.

On top of all the flak that you could get from any law enforcement agency, guess what happens if you have one of these in your house, and for some reason there is a fire. When the firemen see it, they leave ASAP and watch your place burn to the ground.

I've had dealings with this guy and he's pretty stand up. As long as he has some kind of documentation stating that it is an inert training item somewhere in the package it should be ok and as long as the sticks and cap are marked dummy or inert. Knowing that this is a text book case for radiographic interpretation, I'm sure that he will be careful and do these things, won'tcha, Chris?:tinysmile_twink_t:

I've dealt with Chris as well and never had an issue. Its just not a commonly seen inert ord item and the kind of thing that people associate with terrorists more so than other types of ord. I wouldn't want it addressed to me lol

Is the timer actually a working clock? That would make a nice desk clock.

I saw a less realistic looking plastic fake bomb clock a few years ago. It had apparently been confiscated from an air passenger at Heathrow and found its way home with a staff member.

Just spoke to Chris.
Being the stand-up guy that he is, he saw this thread and was pulling the auction.
He planned to send it disassembled and by ground if the auction had run it's course.

Chris, If you are out there and seeing this, good move on pulling the auction. Sorry that you will miss out on a chance of selling it, but you still might be able to do that in a less potentially inflamatory way. It might have made it thru the mail with no problem, but one x-ray and who knows. Once the Feds get wound up over something it is very difficult to calm them down without something negative happening. Bob

Right on Chris, good move to pull it. Would probably be better of to arrange for a private sale and disassmbly into multiple packages.

By the way,Chris has some fantastic stuff posted for sale on GunBroker. Got ma eye on a couple of things.....

I must admit that I had a bit of a laugh when seeing this device: it looks exactly like what one would see in a Hollywood movie, including the red wire that should NOT be clipped, or should it...? :p

More seriously though: yes, this is exactly the kind of device that can get a complete major airport evacuated if it shows up on the X-ray screen; particularly the fact that it has an installed battery and all will quite possibly cause the EOD forces to not take any chances and explode the device on the spot.... Not a good idea to try and send it.

Cool device though! :p

Cheers,
Olafo

You use to see allot of them on the internet and on E-Band (right now this they only word I can think of at this time. The were also for sale in "Spencers" gift stores, if anybody remmbers them.
