Have any of you ever wondered what 12 year old kids get up to these days?
Well, not all of them are on the play station all the time!
Tom, my boy has fortunately got on the slippery slope to collecting all things shiny so here's a couple of photos of his collection. Its good to know I can hand over my collection to someone one day :tinysmile_fatgrin_t (not too soon hopefully!!).
Everything is super safe and inert and legal to own, anything that looks section 5 (50 cal with colourful tip and the pzb) has either been decored (not by me!) or had a replacement projectile put in it.
Dave.

Nice collection, but who pays those items? :nerd:

Thanks.
Some he gets for Christmas/birthdays (SD2's, incendiary bomb), some he got with his pocket money in junk shops/army surplus stores or he asked me to bid on, some were donated by a few mates of mine, some he swapped with a friend of his whose Dad picked up some stuff when he was in the army. The great thing about collecting is it doesn't necessarily have to cost a fortune and even if you limited yourself to collecting items that were less than 5 each you'd get quite a good collection (smoke bombs, adens, hispano's. .50 cal, etc).
Dave.

Yes, yes, I know, I was kidding, you know about using your boy for still collecting; when wife asks: "Why you bought that? Honey, it is for our son...." :xd:

Nice collection!

Cant knock it at all. Some very nice pieces there. That incendiary is straight and honest with the safety pin too! Good on Tom :)

Nice to see that Tom is following in his dads footsteps ........and he already has quite a collection - well done Tom.

I'm sure the knowledge you have Dave will stand him in good stead.

Great to see the two SD2's as well. You know one day he is going to turn up a round you've been hunting for for years and dangle it under your nose!!!!

seriously though well done for encouraging his interests
regards Kev

Thanks for the comments guys.
Will, "the metallic blue thing" - the big metallic blue thing that is a funny shape is the sabot for a 120mm apfsds projectile - one third of it. The round metallic blue thing that looks like a ball is a BLU (Bomb Live Unit) - a practice version used for area denial.
Dave.

nice collection-family. :tinysmile_grin_t:
well done, Tom, so far and the proud father can already today be sure that his own collection will remain in good hands in a far future.

thanks for uplaoding give youre son all the best and good luck !

Great collection he has there, I have lots of spare inert small arms ammo if he would like some. I would be very happy to send him some just send me a PM if he wants any & I also have a few spare baton rounds he can have.

Richard.

Impressive !

For a 12 year old that is a fantastic collection, and it is nice to hear that he will most likely carry on his dads work when dad decides he has had enough of the collecting.

How good to see one of our younger members collecting. If he starts cataloging and labeling it will be surprising how much can be learned. I started my catalogue much too late as it's taken years to catch up, would have been much better if I had started it when my collection was relatively small.
Well done Tom, keep up the good work.
Very best regards,
navyman.

:tinysmile_twink_t2:Have you been holding him back dave,12 years old and just getting started, you suprise me.
