Tin for .303 rounds used with 4" Smoke Discharger

Hi all.

Trying to track down what kind of .303 ammunition was used and its respective tins/containers for the British WW2 4" Smoke Discharger. I have tried doing a number of searches but have so far come up with nothing.

Thanks all for the help.

The original round used for this was the Smoke Discharger E Mark IT which was loaded with black powder, presumably because it helped with the smoke. Very few of these were made and it was replaced by using the Grenade Discharger H Mark IZ. These were usually issued in small circular tins of ten and are identified by having the top half of the cartrdige case blackened. Picture of round attached.

Ok great thanks. Any idea if those rounds also came in a rectangular shaped tin? Reason I ask is that in the Universal Carrier Mk1*. There is a metal bin that held two of the 4" smoke generators. But the brackets that hold the smoke rounds also have cutouts for what would appear to hold two tins for these .303 rounds.

Yes, I have seen the rectangular time also, so I agree that the provision in the carrier is probably for that shape tin.
