While doing my never ending search for Soviet submunitions I came across this document. It sure helped me clear up some questions I had about designations, now to figure out how "R" designations come to play.

Plus it gave me some information on submunitions I was needing to clarify9M Designation Cross Reference_Page_1.jpg9M Designation Cross Reference_Page_2.jpg9M Designation Cross Reference_Page_3.jpg

Actually the "9M..." they refer to as the "system" is in fact the complete missile or rocket only. The "system" (launcher unit + rocket/missile and other related equipment) would have a "9K..." designation ("K" for "komplex").
