Small pistol identification

Hello, I found a small pistol in the river Thames in London today at low tide. It was tied up in a sock, which is never a good sign! I'll take it to the police during the week, but I'd really like to know what it is.

It is quite corroded, and I can't see any maker's name on it. I think there is a name or symbol in the moulded black handle, but I can't make it out under the caked on mud & sand.

Does anyone recognise the type?

Looks like the perfecta starting pistol, 2 holes on top one for the sound to come out of the rear one to eject the blank .22 case.

Andy:)

Do NOT delay in taking it to the police, you risk commiting an offence if you have an unlicenced weapon in your possesion. There was a case a few years ago where a man said he found a shotgun in his garden and waited a few days befotre he handed it in, they arrested him on the spot and was given the MINIMUM 5 years in jail following a trial

Thank for all of the responses. The match is right, there are the holes at the top and the picture fits perfectly. Sorry about breaking the posting rules, that wasn't intentional. LCPLCOMBAT, we'll take your advice.

These 6mm Flobert blank-firing starter pistols are perfectly legal to own in Germany. I had my first one as a child. Meanwhile to carry one in public you have to get a Small Arms Licence, which anybody over 18 can get if you pay 50,-Euro licence fee. Different countries, different rules.

Although this turned out to be a starting pistol, you should have notified the police as soon as you found it, and not removed it from the location.
