Damned, he has some nice stuff for sale. He's like that bunny from the battery commercials.. He keeps on selling grenades.

Who is he, where does he find his stuff? Always wondered. :)

He's a guy called Mike Saffery who is well known to many of us on BOCN.
Mike is a great guy who finds good stuff, well recommended.
I don't collect grenades but he sometimes turns up some nice shells too :tinysmile_classes_t
Dave.

I too am one of his regulars. I know he is an active buyer of collections and he has contacts in Europe. I've has some great stuff from him via Spec Autions.

Over 1800 auctions in less than 3 years, thats +600 a year, that's +50 a month... Thought he was an EODer or something. :)

Edited.. Yes, I _am_ jealous. Who wouldn't be? :p

The European Connection

I can vouch for Mike. Many, many items he shipped me to the U.S. over the years and never a lost item yet. I have NEVER been dis-satisfied with any deal with the man, and as most of you know he is THE EUROPEAN CONNECTION. He also knows his s__t when it comes to grenades and such. His "snatch it up" pricing is competitive and I prefer the buy it now format as when I bid on something on the auction block I am nervous as a whore in church until it is over....Dano

Dano, may I ask how you pay for the items? I mean, PayPal isn't an option?

Was thinking about selling a few pieces. Never dared to..

I used to pay always with paypal, but paypal gave me the golden boot for buying ordnance. So now when I buy something from Europe I pay with cash. Risky business sending cash in the mail, but have not lost out yet. You just have the seller do the conversion rate, as rates vary. The paypal folks (division of e-gay international) must not have any cash flow problems as they seem to have their own set of rules when it comes to their policies etc... When they booted me it was not because ordnance was listed as the item bought, the SOB's were spying on my bidding. Electronic Gestapo is what I call them. Paypal was a tremendous convenience when all was running smoothly, but they have an extremely dim views of individuals who would have the gall to buy INERT ordnance, the operative being INERT. I hate them because it is none of ther goddam' business what I buy using their service which they are profiting hand over fist. I have been accused many times over my life of being "opinionated" but hell I just don't get where that comes from..Best to you and yours...Dano (I was in no way compensated by paypal for this testimonial)

I have a few things to sell.. But not really sure all buyers would send cash by mail. I wouldn't.

Checks might be an option I guess.

Hi Dano
I set up my Pay pal account in 98 and in all that time ive never had trouble using them to pay for ordnance,(over400 items ) or for sending money to friends and family, i wonder if someone over there decided to change their trading rules, without authorisation. on the odd occasion that ive sold Ordnance i accepted pay pal .

Steve, To tell you the truth I am not exactly sure what really happened, until one day I tried to use paypal and it would not go. I contacted paypal and they had given me a 6 month suspension for buying ordnance. I was always ever so careful not to mention ordnance and just put auction goods in the box. When you think about it wouldn't take a degree in rocket science to figure someone is buying ordnance. I may have been victim to a random check or something along those lines. I still have a month of suspension left but really don't want to do businesss with paypal anymore. Some countries I can send an international postal money order, but England is one country that my post office tells me I can't send an international postal money order there. When I buy from England, as I said before, I use cash, I let the seller do the money conversion. I have not had a dealer decline US cash as of yet. Again, I hate sending cash in the mail, but after I seal the envelope (with the cash well wrapped) I put scotch tape over the flaps to help insure it won't come open. I am not so sure it is even legal to send cash in the mail, but i'll not return to paypal when my suspension has ran its course because I think it is absolutely none of their business what I buy using their service that they are making money on. I am not a conspiracy theory, big brother paranoid type but when I have done nothing wrong using a service, and that service busts my balls, it just makes me not want to use their business anymore. I had used paypal for years with no trouble save this one time, and believe me the convenience was certainly nice, but they just p____d me off. What can I say...Dano

on occasions ive used western union or transfered money straight into the sellers bank account. both worked out ok.
paul.

I agree with you Paul on the Western Union suggestion. Ive used it a few times and all went well. But i find Bank Transfers very expensive in 'Rip-off Britain' :(

Every time I'm standing in a supermarket queue and someone ahead of me is paying for their loaf of bread and their teabags with a card, amongst other thoughts,I do wonder whatever is wrong with cash these days?

It's understandable if someone has had a bad experience, but in over 50 years of militaria collecting I have always sent cash payments and I have never had one penny go astray.

At the end of the day,if I was that concerned about my money,I wouldn't be spending so much of it on stuff that's basically worthless to the majority of people!!!!

I've never had a problem with Paypal. I just send payment for services and that's all. Maybe they are subject to random checks. I don't see any problem with cheques myself. I always used to pay by cheque in the old days. I think we have all been spoilt a little with the simplicity of Paypal, and now it seems to be taking collectors rights away, we appear a little lost. Everyone I have bought ordnance from has been 100% trustable.

In an earlier post Dano was saying that he was caught by paypal for using it to pay for items without identifying the seller, i e for goods etc. If paypal want to can you, they will and i suspect that if large credits are being made to your a/c they will just assume its for ordnance and can you. It will be up to you to prove it isnt and there they have you.I am moving away from paypal for anything ordnance related as i am going to need my paypal a/c sometime in the future.
Roll on gunpal i say, lets hope it arrives here in the UK soon.

Andy
