Shell Fuze Plug ?

I assume this is a plug ? Solid brass with threads of 1.374" & length of 1.73" . Any info appreciated . Thanks , Siegfreid.

I'm bumping this thread again as it's driving me doolally ! BOCN has the FINEST experts in the whole wide world & surely SOMEONE must have a clue as to what such a well marked item was out of . Thanks all & I hope my , to be fair precarious , sanity is soon restored . Mike.
 
well apart from it is a No.3 plug of 1937 made by S H & S = Samuel Heath or S Hall & Sons. If lefthand thread would make it a base plug if not then a transport nose plug but cant think of a British nose fuze that sort of diameter. Wish I could help more.
 
I just had a thought . Could this plug be for a 3" mortar [one of the early ones] . I don't have any at this time but perhaps if some kind member has one & could measure the fuze aperture we could find out . Thanks.
