Hello,
I found this photo on the internet. Shells found In Romania.
Look like russian 45mm O-240.
Does anyone know what is the small device on base plate ?
I never seen such a shell with a tracer (?).
Hello, yes i know the discovery. They are found near an old firing range.
I have looked in all my documents, firing tables, etc regarding 45mm ammunition and there were no HE shells with tracer, and I asked all the collectors and it was the first time seeing something like this even for very experienced collectors. My guess is that these are postwar shells made in Romania in the 1950`s. These usually also have a different filling than ww2 shells.

In Romania in 1942, the French tank R 35 was modernized with a newly installed Russian 45 mm 20 K cannon plus the resulting changes to the turret, etc.
The tank was designated "Vânătorul de Care R35",The tank was mass-produced ... until August 1944, including ammunition.
Is it possible that this type of ammunition (with tracer) is in this firing range?.
