OK ...

Here is an interesting fuze.

Again images were taken ar Aberdeen Ordnance Museum and the quality is not the best. We tried to chauk the nomenclature so we could see it better.

What we have, or I think we have, is an RGM-34K. Now I have never seen this fuze, or even heard of it before, so I thought maybe you guys might know something about it. Or maybe see something I am not.

It has the selector switch on the side (you can see it in the picture) ... What you can't see is the markings on the oposite side ... they are 1/8/51 and 79-40

40-MM Diameter
54-MM Exposed
101-MM total length

Any ideas?

Joe

So it is an RGM with a factory code of 34K? Interesting ... I wonder how many times we have messed that up.

Not meaning you in particular but I have observed that way too often with lots of USSR ordnance and in particular fuzes. It hapened in other militaries as well.
Odd to see that there is no reaction to such shortcommings which are on for decades now.

I am finding the more I learn the more I find things we have got wrong. And you are right not only Old Soviet stuff, but German and British too. That's why I like this site so much. As I go through things I try to learn and document so I can pass on the knowledge. I will post more questions on the RMG stuff later next week on body styles.

Thanks again,

Joe

One question on your RGM here:

Is the "79-40" you mentioned followed by a "r" (Cyrillic G)?

lot 79 of 1940
God means year in russian, hence the small cyrillic g (г)
