Projectile ID help needed

Hi Guys
ID needed on the following item
Found in my clearout & have no idea where/when or how I got them??
Diameter is 85mm 3 3/8". Length 230mm 9" Weight 7.5Kg a little over 16 pounds.
Fairly sure it is a Howitzer shell?
Copper drive band has several radial grooves machined in it near the top.
One is rusty but sound but the other has lost a fair bit of steel due to corrosion.
Tip seems to be hardened(AP?)
Base has a 10mm dia hole that at first I thought might just be from the machine centre but it is quite deep & stepped so possibly tracer?
As 16 base.jpg16 pounder.jpgever thanks in advance.

25 Pdr AP-T most likely, or Armour Piercing Shot in your part of the world. Photos from previous BOCN posts.

I agree with Hazord, the profile and drive band are a good match.
Best Weasel.

Cheers Hazord
Yep that looks to be right.
I think I have a spare 25 case so will add the good proj to the collection.
Should there be any stampings on the projectile?

Hi H,
you should find some about 2" above and downwards on one side above the drive band, lot number, date ect

Tony

The one on the left looks like the pitting isn't too bad. It should clean up alright. With some filler and a re-paint it would be a nice round.
