:tinysmile_shy_t::tinysmile_shy_t: hi guys
i am looking for some sort of price guide for my shells mortors etc i have collected them over the years from car boots garage sales and from my mate who dose house clearance .
but i really dont have a clue to prices ?
some nice people i have come across on this site and elswhare have told me to get a grip your giving stuff away ?
one example a 31pdr i paid 30 it was worth 150 plus i thought 50
if you know of any ISBN numbers or have a spare book / manuel i would be greatfull .
i keep checking specialist auctions as a price guide but my stuff never turns up .
best regards armystuff

Hi armystuff,
I would have thought that checking places like SA would give the you the top prices for your goodies.
I would ask a few of the lads in here for an honest price on an item.
Always makes for good debates!

:tinysmile_shy_t: i will post some pics of some of my goodies and ask for values
good idea waff
i would still like some sort of book or manuel as a guide
regards armystuff.

A manual could turn out to be `overpriced` and outdated.
Dont forget that items are worth what someone is going to pay.
I think you were very honourable selling that round at that price as you made a few quid and prob made a fellow collector happy as long as he wasnt ripping you off to make a bog killing on something.
Dont let yourself have the p#ss took though mate.
Just ask the lads in here for help on anything.

Like waff said price guides can be out of date ,,But they can give you a rough guide to what your item could be worth/make,
I have a booklet 100+ pages called "The International Militaria Collectors Guide" by Gary Sterne and Irene Moore it has a few pages with ordnance in ,as the title says it is a guide not a definitive valuation book
Also the armourer magazine usually has a few pages showing items from arms fairs and the prices the dealers asked on the day

Nice one Spott.

I honestly think SA is very expensive so i always run things past the Mickmeister before i commit to owt.

:tinysmile_shy_t: hi guys
i dont know what page you were reading waff but i never sold that shell i bought it for 30 i thought is was worth 50 but was told its worth 150plus i swapped it for a nice german helmet with a bullet hole :xd:
hello spotter
i have that international miltaria collectors guide 3rd edition great book
but i thing waffs idea is a good one to post some items for the guys to debate and argue about the prices ?
then i wont feel im being stung or stinging someone else ?
and i do enjoy john carlins ordnance collecting in the armourer.
what section should i post the pics for debate and value ?
best regards archie .
PS thanks guys for the input :tinysmile_shy_t:

Valuations

Hi I think with the large following of e-bayers and SA that prices have become far too overpriced.
As a serious collector and researcher into Bomb disposal history and fuze collecting , hardly a week goe,s bye without someone asking me about prices, when i tell them the price collectors, would be prepared to pay , it usually surprises them, as they think that e bay prices are what they are expecting to get.
I,m sticking to fellow collectors and contacts and boycotting auction sites.Sorry chaps Steves on his high horse

price guide

hi fuzeman
i quite agree thats why im going to put a pile of my goodies on the site so collectors like yourself with lots of serious experiance can help less experianced collectors like myself .and other members to pay the right price
i hope other members stick some goddies on the sight to be valued aswell
this could be fun .
maybe waff will regret sugesting it in the first place ?

Hello armystuff, price guides are an area of controversy, I’d suggest you take the prices within the Armourer and the military collectors guide with a pinch of salt, they're the prices the dealers asking, not what they got.

Fuzemans right that ebay has pushed the prices up to unrealistic level, but then many collectors only buy from ebay/SA so to them the prices are ‘right’.

At the end of the day an items worth what somebody wants to pay for it.

As for the 150 projectile, I think that was me suggesting that price. :tinysmile_fatgrin_t

Let see what others members think. It was a 3.7” AA projectile and fuze. In my opinion a market price for a complete round in good condition would have been around 150.

That’s just my opinion, other may have a different view.

Hi chaps, i think the point Archie was trying to make, was not that he wanted to value his items to sell /swap for as much cash as possible,he didnt want to get ripped off. There are people out there who will take the proverbial Michael! As for the 3.7 inch, its worth at least 100 quid in g/c. When did you last see one for sale? Or any Brit stuff in good nick for that matter. As for ebay, the bargains are still there,i got a cracking one tonight! Specalist auctions on the other hand is a dumping ground for everybodies seconds, the same stuff for week after week.Except for a few sellers who put on the better stuff. Post your pics Archie, and get a fair swap/trade(possibly with me if i ever take some bloody decent pics!)Best wishes Tony.:tinysmile_fatgrin_t
