Humm... looks to me like a 20x138r Solothurn round....

P490 = Hugo Schneider A.G. or Polte A.G.

39 = 1939

Xw = ?

221 = ?

Just found this on the net about the waffen Mark.
WaA201. 201 P490 20mm case Hugo Schneider Altenburg (Th) 1939 40

Does not mean a lot to me.

Headstamp: P490 is Hasag. NB. the case was made by them but you need the box label to give all the details such as primer, projectile, propellant and filling plants. Regards, Ron. P.S. Box labels are a wealth of information

Just so you are aware, that cartridge does contain powder. It is a noise producing blank round.
