Hi,
I have found numerous waffle shaped metal plates with a square hole in the middle (see picture) amidst debris from US gunners that manned their 90mm M1 canons during World War II in those locations. I found the lids of the containers in which the 90mm rounds were stored, the cans for the fuzes, the transportation lugs, a fuze key, a can of grease,... etc. I can't figure out what these "waffles" are though.
Can anyone shed a light on this please?
