Part of a sea mine?

This was apparently found on the shoreline at Harwich.
Anyone recognise what it is?
The only markings are 'W B'.
Thanks
Chris

This appears part of the trigger mechanism that was used on WWI US naval defense mines Mark IV Mod 2. This style lever-triggered mine (Elia) was originally designed in Italy and then used to some degree by the UK and then adapted by the US as a defensive naval mine (at least that's how I understand it). The trigger mechanism may have had other applications, of course. I will try to attach a photo of an original and I will try to get better closeups and measurements if that would be helpful to try to confirm that this ID is correct. The photo shows an original trigger with modern hardware attached for display purposes. Bill

Wow ! - Thanks Bill - That definitely looks the part!
It is now more than just an interesting looking bit of metal found on a beach!
I can now go find a diagram of a mine showing how and where this fitted in the scheme of things.
