P-51 Machine Gun Test Firing

To own automatic weapons or sound suppressors in the U.S., you have to live in a State that allows ownership. You then need to find one for sale, and fill out the transfer paperwork to send in to the ATF with a copies of your photo and fingerprints along with a $200.00 fee for each gun or suppressor. The ATF then processes the paperwork and sends you your copy. It is currently taking more than 6 months for them to do their paperwork. Once the paperwork is complete, the gun or suppressor can be transferred to you. A machine gun with a suppressor would require two transfer fees and require a separate paper for each item listing its serial number. The paper that you receive has a stamp on it, just like a postage stamp, except that it is $200.00.

Ahhhhh. Guns on planes. One can only imagine the permits required for that upgrade to the airframe.

And the expense.

If all 6 are functioning weapons(which appears to be the case), we're talking a one time $1200 in tax stamps, alone. The guns are most likely selling for $8000-$10000 per. There's $60K+.

THEN $2-$3/pop. At a cyclic rate of 650 +/-, X 6, = 3900rpm = upwards of $12,000 which = $2000/sec to check it all out. SHEESH, and we thought our hobby was expensive.

Oh, and forgot the $2million investment in the plane that costs $2000/hr to fly.

Guess I'll stick to watching videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKU0uQki5Dc

Amazing!

Thought about doing this with .303 brownings in a Mosquito, firing blank at night, but even that would be way too expensive.

We can all dream though.....

Guess who can afford a P-51 will have no problems with the peanuts for the gun licences.

I just wonder if they installed M2's or M3's as they should be. Aim of the guns was not zeroed as we can see.

Fantastic, that was superb, thanks for showing, the brownings were not zeroed but they were making damn good groups, phenominal firepower, imagine what the P47 with eight could do,
Slick,Thanks for posting the youtube link, absolutly fantastic,
Kind Regards,

This is wiki, so consider the source. Discounting field mods, P51s only ever had 6 X cal .50.
