I picked up this European Flintlock this weekend.
I have no idea of age, by or for whom ?
If any one knows an expert in these I can send
images and maybe it can be identified.
I couldn't get the link open (my old computer) but your image is dead on ! It had been pinned but was converted to
brass bands at some point - Hope these images help.
I wonder how hard to find the bayonet ?
Sounds like a good buy. I am sure with some TLC the rifle will make a very nice display piece. Finding the correct bayonet will be difficult but not impossible. Congrats with your purchase.
You might have noticed that the Frissen is broken on the piece.
Do you know of any one over there that has or deals in parts for these old guns ?
I would like to obtain a real part rather then put on some new reproduction.
Perhaps there is some hope of such a part over there, certainly no hope
in Canada !
Inbox issue has been resolved With regard to the broken frizzen. I think your best option would be the internet. Original frizzen
will probably set you back around US $ 150.00, a replica around $ 10.00. I would go for an easy fix and keep my eyes (and internet)
open for an original one that might come along in the near future.
