I am looking for pictures and drawings of the NO 109 MK 5 British projectile fuze. I don't have anything on this version.

Joe,

Are you sure there is a Mk V?

According to Trevor's book (Depotman) it lists MK I to Mk III then jumps to Mk VI.
There is no indication why Mk IV & Mk V were missed.

Interesting enough for the No 109E, there is a "Note" stating that that Mks I, II, IV & V are fuses No 109 of the same Mk fitted with shutter >>> None ever made!

Cheers

The only thing I have to go off of is an old Ebay sale I printed off a long time ago. The image was garbage, and the seller said it was a NO 109 MK 5. It has a bluish nose. Could be garbage, could be something. Just trying to track the information down since I don't have anything on that variant.

No pictures of the fuze unfortunately, but the No.109 MkV existed on paper at least. If a No.102 MkIV image is available that should be similar to the No.109 MkV according to the following excerpt from list of fuzes to be used on HE shell.

Drawing RL22770 seems to be the drawing required.

Apologies to you both regarding the omission of why the Mk IV & Mk V were missed - it was difficult to draw the line over the amount of detail to include and exclude from my book as it can get very involved! Anyway, here's the info: Mks IV, IV* and V, which were to be converted from Fuze No. 102 Mks III, III* and IV, were referred to in OC Min 13800 of 21/02/1917, but the designs were cancelled and the marks were not introduced into service. I hope this clears it up - there never was a Mk V. Regards, Depotman (Trevor)
p.s. OC Min = Ordnance Committee Minute
