Hi All,

I havnt posted for quite a while, and my appolagies. Mainly due to the fact i havnt had anything interesting in.
Well untill now.

Had a nice German Doppel Trommel Magazine arrive yesterday. Slight surface rust, but i can easily sort that, what was the name of that acid mentioed???
Full markings and very nicley dated 40.
Internals are still greased and oiled, unfortunatley three small cover screws are missing, and the leather strap has rotted off, but easy things to do.

Was over the moon with the thing. Markings are as follows:

Maker Hasag, well thats how it appears. D-T15 Nr976k13, F1 46800. Matching numbers on rear cover.
Early 'W' stamped and the number 64 appears in a window shape fo front.Ammo feed chute is also nicely marked with the 'W' stamp.

Just thought id share this with you.
Also im posting a projectile on the id section if anyone is able to assist in identifying it.

Cheers,

Clive.:tinysmile_classes_t

Hi Clive, very nice.
The acid method is Hammerite rust treatment solution - it comes as a dip or a gell you paint on and brings the item back to bare metal where you treat it.
See attached link, first item.

Oxalic acid ime told does a very good job and leaves the paint looking good too. There was a thread all about this but as usual i cant find it. Good luck with it Tossa.

Oxalic acid is very good when item has paint.I think that for this magazine will be better electrolysis.

Pointblank,

It is solid, its only light surface rust in places. A lot of the original blueing is still there. Its looks worse in the photo's.
I will post some more pics later for you though

Dave and Gothica,

Many thanks for the advice, i will look into it. Depending on what i decide to do with it, if its a stayer or goer.

Thanks again for the replies, will post some more pics later this eve or this afternoon.

All the best,

Clive. :xd:

Don't use a rust remover if you want to keep the original blueing. The blue is also a rusting proces.
Only gunoil, fine steelwool and a lot of elbowgrease.

Oxalic acid and rust remover is very bad when item has blueing. You can use only some oil but the best method is electrolysis.
I will show you example tommorow(cleaned item by electrolysis)
