Good day everyone, I need help ID'ing this projectile from a picture. I apologize in advance but the picture is the only thing I got. I did not see the projo in person and do not have any dimension either. By the look of it, I think it is a 3 inch practice of some kind. I just saying that by the shape and tail unit but I do not recall seeing the nose part before which puzzling me. Any information would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance. photo01.jpg Luc.

From the shape and the fins, looks like (?) a 3inch mortar with a possibly bodged, trench art brass nose piece?

cheers
Bob

John is right, you are not giving us much to go on here. There were some early commercial riot control mortars with a similar profile. I've got one in 60mm and have seen photos of one in 81mm. This is from back in the days when WP was still considered an acceptable riot controil agent. I'm headed to a show in a litle bit, I'll try and post a photo when I get back.

Hi Luc , could it be a 3 " mortar star round ? David Gordons ,Weapons of the WW2 Tommy ,page 656

Thank you all, I knew it was kind of a long shot. And for the record... I did apologize since I knew there was not much to work with... Thank you Big Dave, It could be... I'll take a look in toward your suggestion later after my second cup of mojo.
To all have a nice day. Luc

Thank you US-Subs, (sorry, I do not know your first name)

Cheers.
Luc.
