the case is a 76,2x385R produced for Russia. It should have been produced in the US or Canada.

May be someone here knows if the Massachusetts Arms Company would be a possible candidate?

There are British 18 Pounder and 4 1/2" Howitzer cases with a very similar "M.A.C." marking. These usually have Canadian property marks. I understand these are made by "montreal Ammunition Co." in Canada.

I am not a weapons collector, but as far as I know Massachusetts Arms Co., only made weapons and weapons associated items, not ammunition components, especially artillery caliber cases. Anyone know of something different?

Without doing a lot of investigation I go with the Mass Arms Co. I have a 37mm case with similar & have always been informed it is from USA.
Isn`t someone selling a 37 from US on SA at moment?

yes, Montreal Ammunition Company make also for me more sense as there are different other canadian export headstamps with similar arangement.
