I got this projectile from a friend of mine. He had it for a long time and knows that it is an Expiermental US 20mm High Capacity HE-T. Does anyone have any type of documentation on it or would know what case it belongs in?

I did find out what the projectile was. This proj is one of several lengths loaded by FA ca 1950s into a 2-piece case made by fitting a non-headstamped 20mm M103-type draw piece to a 20mm case cut off just above the extractor groove. This gave a total case length of 209mm.

I am going to make a reproduction case to display this projectile in my collection until I can actually find an original case. If one even exists now.

I need to find an unfinished 20mm draw case before I can even begin, because the first half of the case will be 121mm.

Does anyone have any spare draw cases for the 20mm vulcan?

This is one real oddball...........

Awesome info, thanks a lot!

Was this just a ballistic test or were there any weapons made for this cartridge?

All you have to do now if find the .60 cal version with the 221mm case length.

EOD it was for a high velocity test bed used by Frankford Arsenal for tests conducted in the 1950's.

Dave.
