This year's holiday was spent mostly in Alsace. By chance I noticed that we were not far from the Natzweiler concentration camp, a place I had read about in the book `The scourge of the swastika' by Lord Russell of Liverpool. I was not keen to darken the mood of the holiday but felt that I must visit, as did my wife. The site is in the Vosges mountains and the museum / exhibition gives a comprehensive background to this part of the Nazi story. Part of the camp is being refurbished as a reminder of what went on there.
