Mystery find

One of the teams found this today,we have no idea what it is or what it may be from,theres a good chance its not even ordnance related,but thought id chance putting it on just in case someone knows,
At first glance there looks to be writing around the edge.BUT isnt unless its very old script that has worn away possibly decoration.The item is solid with no visible holes through it the edges are quite sharp
Like i say we have no idea ,,we,ve come up with all sorts of thoughts,farm machinery ,shield boss,sword pommel,part from a ufo..hopefully someones seen something like this before

It does actually look like a minature UFO.

Shield boss could be likely, perhaps you could try some forums into Roman/Saxon/Viking/Celtic history. It does look like it could be very old, possibly from this period.

Ive seen something like that on Time team i think its a Celtic ? broach , think of a cape thats held together at the top by a strap what i think that is is one of those Broach/ button. fastener thingamajigs
