At last the display cabinet (cabinet may be a slight over description !) is up on the wall and just needs the doors (Perspex) cut and the runners screwed on-
So here are my little lot to date, I must apologise for the picture being all skewed but i had to use a 24mm Lens on it from a distance of about 4 foot !!!

Collection

Thanks Armystuff for your comments.
Well it is a start and I will slowly add bits to it but will be very very selective as to the condition of the items (getting very fussy in my old age!) :vroam:
Chris

Oh Chris Mate ! you sold all your collection, now your'e starting all over again ? if you are not careful, you will be buying some of your old stuff back again ! I have been collectiong about thirty years to date, and I am still looking for a few elusive bits from the beginning. Nice items though, I know what you mean about condition, there's an awful lot of scrap metal for sale out there. Tony.

Excellent work Chris.
What's the 4 big ones on the left side and what date are they?

Thanks
SG
Hi Steilguhr in answer to your question the longest one is a 57mm Tank round with an APC-T projectile (LH of Four)
The next one is an exceptionally good HE-T round for the PLK anti Tank gun I believe.
The next one is an S60 Anti Aircraft HEIT Training round (third from left) also 57mm calibre.
And the one on the right of the Four is an S60 HEIT round again for AA use.
Hope that answers your question.
Chris

Sorry Stielguhr they all are dates around the 70/80s with some smaller items being even newer than that.

I have not had time to do the "research" on these rounds for their correct nomenclature-but will post pics with full details when I have done so (bit busy at the moment!)

Yes Roller I did sell 98% of my collection but then I had an awful lot of c^p amongst it all and did not specialise in any one thing !
So now I aim to put that right by collecting only mint condition Russian of 57 mm or below.
The really good items that I did have were mainly purchased by a fellow member here who does specialise.

Chris

Ahhhh- the old 57mm!
That brings back memories of last year, a place with lots of sand, and LOADS of leftover 57mm projectiles- they are freaking EVERYWHERE. No brass, no driving bands, and always rusted.
Sometimes fitted with a grenade fuze as a home made grenade, sometimes wired to a home made pressure switch to pop truck tires, or kill someone for some tribal reason, usually under welcome mat or prayer rug. Filled with about 160 grams of HE. Never saw a single gun system for them, though.

Um, same here - just about 5000 of them

Such a pity on such nice items too :tinysmile_angry_t:

Some were out of the box - pity as they were new - but I had a job to do before they were stolen

"Out of the box"? Wow- I never saw any that nice. I did see alot of the empty ones laying around, though.
If I'd known about this place, I'd of brought a few of the empties back- a few could have cleaned up pretty nice.
