The bigger items I picked up at Landhorst this year. Try identifying them....seven are experimental. They are in calibre order.

WOW Tony, you lucky person, very nice selection there.
Here's my guesses - some really tricky ones there!!
Dave.

1) Steyr 15.2mm anti material round
2)16 X 98 Vega
3) 20 X 81 (German) - difficult to tell without seeing headstamp
4) Hum, looks like a 20 X 129 Mk 213A but the rim looks a bit thick.
5) Goodness knows but I like it - something German expt WW2?
6) Bofors 20 X 144
7) 25 X 218 Russian
8) 26 X 130 Colt
9) 27 X 70 T-45
10) 25 X 173........? Looks like a necked down GAU 8
11) 30 X 172 Gau 8. Looks like a cored round (Tungsten or DU?)
12) 5cm Gruson round

A very good effort, Dave! 1, 2, 6, 8, 9, 11 and 12 are correct (technically, the Gruson round is 53mm).

Some extra clues: #4 and 5 are French; #7 you are very close (I suspect it may have the wrong projectile in it), #10 is a production item still in service.

No you have me well puzzled about 4 & 5 Tony, I give up on that one.
Anyone else out there got any ideas?
I must be having a complete mental block on 10 - if its service!!?? Looks a lot like the 27X172 Swiss but I think that was expt, nope you've got me there too.
Dave.

Another thought on number 4. How about a 20 X 122? If so its probably stamped DCA?
Dave.

Yes, #4 is a 20x122. It is an early version of a series of French experimentals from the 1950s to find a new AA gun round. These were known as the 5CG series.

#5 is a later round from the 5CG series. The German projectile in the case is correct: the French loaded their cases with these projectiles for test firing.

I'll give you #10: it's a 27x173. It was never used in an automatic cannon, but was specifically developed for use in the Mauser SCORE sub-calibre system for tank gun training, to obtain the high velocity required. This is in service in Switzerland and possibly elsewhere, I'm not sure. Rheinmetall are still advertising the SCORE system on their website (although they don't include details of the ammo). The only projectile is a frangible tracer, known as TPFRAN-T.

That leaves you with #7 - I'm surprised you haven't got this yet!

OK final guess on number 7, is it..........

25 X 218 SR M1940 AA

?

Dave.

Oh, never seen one of those, but my wants list got longer!!

Thanks for showing them Tony, its been a bit of a challenge without headstamps, case lengths or calibres.

Dave.
